Courses and Lectures for Parents

 

Parent Speak: For Parents of Children With Autism March 1, 8, 22, and 29

Spiral is pleased to offer a new language-based educational program to support parents and paraprofessionals working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders between 3-6 years of age. The classes will be held four Thursday evenings in March and are presented by Elizabeth Deutsch, MS, CC-SLP. 

Topics include:

·         Social skills

·         Play skills

·         Sensory integration as it relates to language development

·         Executive functioning

Successful strategies used to support language and communication at varying levels will be presented.

Sensory-based Strategies for Home, School and Community

The basics on SPD for parents, grandparents, caregivers and anyone wanting to learn sensory strategies for everyday life.  This will be a hands-on, fun workshop with movement, music, activities and play strategies you can use with children of all ages.  Bring an exercise ball if you can!  Will also feature parent stories to bring hope and inspire you. 

 

The workshop includes featured speakers:

Diana Henry, MS, OTR, FAOTA, Henry Occupational Therapy Services, Inc.

Join us for the 2012 Evening Lecture Series

Members of OTA-Watertown's world-class staff present hour-long sessions on specific topics, from oral-motor difficulties, to supporting SI kids for school success, to bike riding. There are also sessions for parents who are looking for an introduction to sensory processing disorder and sensory integration therapy.
