Course overview

This engaging discussion focuses on nurturing sensory development in early childhood. In this session, we cover key milestones of sensory development in infancy and early childhood, while exploring various intervention strategies aimed at supporting sensory integration in young children.

Through the review of a selected case study, we briefly examine intervention ideas and techniques. Additionally, we highlight the essential role caregivers play in promoting sensory development and facilitating holistic growth during this pivotal developmental stage.

Guest Speaker

Leorah is a licensed and certified occupational therapist. She earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in occupational therapy from Boston University. Since graduating, Leorah has worked in early intervention, providing home-based services aimed at supporting families with babies and toddlers with a variety of delays and diagnoses. She is a Certified Early Intervention Specialist in MA and has a special interest in helping parents to better understand their child’s needs and providing individualized treatments using a strengths-based approach. In her spare time, Leorah enjoys hiking, yoga, going to the beach, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Robyn is a seasoned occupational therapist with over 15 years of experience specializing in sensory integration therapy. As the moderator for the SPIRAL Foundation’s Live Talk Series, Robyn brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in facilitating discussions on sensory integration. Her passion for advocacy and education in the field of occupational therapy makes her an invaluable asset to this series.
